1. Are you Maverick? | S Revive our Universities/Spark

“Mavericks” are gifted people who do not fit easily into institutions. As a result they are often frustrated by too many rules and regulations, and organizations don’t know how to benefit from their many gifts. I will share my experience in helping :Mavericks” become some of the most important staff of their organization.

2. The art of singleness* | KF 3

In a culture that is all about relationships & sex and a church that highly values marriage and family, how can we live healthy lifes as singles? What biblical advice and comfort is there for me? And how can someone who’s not married glorify God through his relationship status?

Thomas Hagmüller

3. True Disciples of Jesus will change Europe: A look into the power of discipleship | K 8

A fresh Move of God is upon us, and the invitation to true followers of Jesus to be part of it must be embraced to sustain Jesus moving in our generation. As believers in our universities, our cities, and our own lives, how do we steward what God is doing? The cry of our communities is Jesus-centered, Spirit-filled discipleship. In this seminar, we will look into how to sustain revival through our own journeys of spiritual formation. We will continue to look at how the power of simple obedience and following the teachings of Jesus in our everyday life (discipleship) plays a vital role to transform our personal lives, universities, cities, and our nations!

Caleb Schmidt

4. Transformational disciple making and equipping through whole life mentoring* | K 7

“Who cares for my soul?”, David pleads in Psalm 142:4. Life is a journey as we transition through different phases. Student life is followed by new opportunities and challenges in work, family, church, and society – in ever-changing relationships and contexts. We need safe people coming alongside us; asking questions, caring, listening, sharing, equipping, being in the Bible with us, and praying for us. Whole life mentoring!

Jesus left a small group
of trained disciples who since multiplied as he promised in John 17,20. Therefore; we are here, in Revive, today. Let’s keep the multiplication going – rooted in the dignity and value of every individual. What can this look like?

5. Intercultural Pastoral Care Using Prayer and Existential Talk | K9

Working together with international or migrant churches is an important part in doing student ministry. My experiences with international students as IFES volunteer and later as a staff, and as a visiting preacher in Indonesian and international churches in the Netherlands gave me a clear vision of the importance of integrating psychology and theology in helping migrants in the Netherlands. Hence, in 2019 I especially founded Diaspora Empowerment to provide training, coaching, and Christian pastoral counseling for migrants in the Netherlands, besides doing research together with Bible Schools, a university, or other institutions. I am specialized in using a biblical human existential approach in cross-cultural counseling. It is an integration between psychology (ethnic identity) and Christian spirituality; (1) biblical understanding of ‘who I am and who I am not in front of God’ and (2) meditational and outspoken prayer as a common Christian ritual. I will share how this approach is done in pastoral counseling.

🌟1. Questions on God, science, and faith with John Lennox| DM Main Hall

Come learn how Professor John Lennox responds to the most pressing questions about God, science and faith. Be equipped to engage thoughtfully with your friends! Professor Lennox has lectured extensively on mathematics, the philosophy of science and the intellectual defence of Christianity. He has also debated several prominent atheists, including Richard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens, and Peter Singer.

John Lennox

2. “I Saw Satan Fall Like Lightning From Heaven” | K Hall

Luke 10:1-12 teaches us how Jesus brought revival to all the cities by training anonymous evangelists to execute four evangelism tasks. Come and be trained in Jesus’ model of friendship evangelism.

John Teter

3. A cumulative case for Christianity* | K 10

Individual arguments for God or the resurrection may not be very persuasive for someone coming from a very different worldview. Does this mean that arguments are pointless? Pointers toward a Christian view of the world are stronger when placed together, as a “cumulative case”. I will explain how a cumulative case works and some of the lines of evidence which together support a Jesus-centred view of the world.

Zachary Ardern

4. Sharing lives – overcoming our fear of Islam* | K 5

Many European Christians share a widespread fear of Islam. They fear that Europe will gradually turn into Eurabia. They ignore the efforts of Muslims to adapt to the European context while not necessarily giving up their religious convictions. Fear is a poor counsellor and alienates us from anybody that threatens one’s identity. The more one realizes the meaning of the cross of Christ and the grace that we have received, the more one will be able to respond in grace towards Muslims. This seminar will not primarily provide information about Islam and skills to convince a Muslim of Biblical truth, but it will provide tools to share your life with a Muslim. Isn’t that what Jesus did when He came down from Heaven and shared His life with sinners?

Jaap Oosterhuis

5. Crossing cultures with Jesus* | K1

Ready for a life-changing adventure? Come to this seminar on crossing cultures with Jesus! He may encourage you to reach out to your international friends at your campus. Or maybe you are going abroad yourself? There are also exciting opportunities to spend time as a volunteer helping with the ministry in another IFES movement. Come and experience how Jesus wants you to go on a cross-culture adventure with Him! You will not regret it…

Francina de Pater

6. Evangelistic bible studies with international students* | K 2

You want to do something very simple and very exciting at the same time? “We had the Bible and we could pray,” said one of the founding fathers of SMD after WWII. Also today you don’t need more than that to make Jesus known to your international non-Christian friends. A crazy idea? Exactly! Reading the Bible with your international friends takes your initiative, but it is a great way to let God speak directly to people’s hearts. I have experiences in various constellations in the last fifteen years and want to tell you about our experiences and give you some tips.

Hans-Markus Haizmann

7. Treasure hunt with God at your university | K 3

How can your life as a Christian and your studies go hand in hand? Your student days are like a great treasure and the university campus is a big treasure island. Come on, let’s go on a treasure hunt together, and let’s discover how being a Christian and your studies go together as a calling from God. Moreover, let’s see how the field of your studies provides new impulses for your view on faith. We will outline a personal treasure map so you can go on an adventure when you are back home. Discover how Jesus has called you to the place where you are right now.

In the second part, we will speak about very personal and practical steps we can take towards fellowship with the Holy Spirit and welcoming revival in our personal lives.

Gernot Elsner

3.The Mark Drama! | K 6

Have you heard about it or experienced it yourself?🔥 With this project, we wish to reach those in particular who usually do not come to large group evenings or church services. The idea of the Markustheater is to perform the entire Gospel of Mark in 90 minutes – without props, without costumes, and as a round theater. This project represents an incredible evangelistic opportunity for many groups because the gospel is experienced up close. We’ll talk about the first steps if you want to organize the Markustheater! Are you interested? Come over!

1. To end well you must plan from day 1 | S Revive our Universities/Spark

As a young university student, I was asked to be the “Mission Secretary” for the campus group, helping the students to think about worldwide missions. The person who asked me to do so told me that in addition to doing this I was responsible to find someone to replace me. This principle revolutionized my nearly 60 years of Christian ministry. I will share how and why in this seminar.

3. Master the Bible in Your Lifetime | K 3

The Berean church (Acts 17:11-17) was the noblest of all the church plants in Acts. Why? Because they mastered the Bible for themselves. Come and learn the four levels of Bible mastery so that you can be a Berean in your generation.

1. ‘Have no fear” | K Hall

Have you ever felt afraid to share about Jesus, even if you deeply desired to do so? Does it feel like it’s harder and harder to express your views in the current climate? This seminar is for you! Christians are under increasing pressure to be silent. But our Christian faith was never meant to be private. Come learn from John Lennox how to winsomely and effectively share Jesus with our friends, despite our fears.

John Lennox

2. Why Does God Allow So Much Evil and Suffering? | K 8

Responses to this question by Christians typically focus on the good that can come through suffering and the value of human freedom. These responses are important in reducing the size of the problem. However, they leave much unexplained. This seminar will suggest that reflection on the fall (Genesis 3) and on the cross point in the direction of a more satisfying response.

EUROPE

🌟1. Seven lies that kill your passion | DM Main Hall

1. We can only be sure of the things we see.
2. We’re here by accident
3. Everything is going to be ok 4. You can be whoever you want to be
5. It doesn’t matter what you believe
6. Love is just a passing feeling 7. To know God you have to be “religious”

These are 7 common ideas in a secular culture that represent barriers for people to know Jesus today. But the gospel responds powerfully to each of these ideas, and can completely change our perspective on life, identity, relationships, community, and God.

Luke Greenwood

3. How to use social media to reach seekers* | K 6

In this seminar, we will look at how to strategically use social media to build the kingdom of God. Some questions we will be asking are: instead of sending out one-sided messages, how can we focus on and engage with the questions and needs of seekers? Instead of speaking our Christian slang, how can we speak the language of the seeker? And last but not least: how can we use and influence the algorithm to reach the unreached?

6. How to be relevant and bold to preach the gospel | K9

This workshop will teach you values, principles, and models for relevantly sharing Jesus and making disciples among young people who would not usually walk into your church. How can we communicate the Gospel to them when they have such a negative view of God? When you have the boldness to step outside the Church and share your faith, people are open and ready to hear the Gospel. This workshop will equip, inspire and challenge you to reach a lost generation.

*Seminar Repeats Twice
**Undivided is a series of seminars dedicated to last year students and fresh graduates to help them integrate their faith and work and learn to be Ambassadors for Christ at work. We recommend participants transitioning soon from student to professional life or those who recently entered their professional career to attend them all if desired. Still, we understand there are many other good seminars, so we strongly recommend not to miss seminars – A practical guide for witness in the workplace. Part 1 & 2 on December 30th.
