Revive Europe Shares Vision for a New Season of Bridge-Building

Since becoming a movement in 2019, Revive Europe has carried a simple conviction: that Jesus desires to revive Europe and call a generation to consecration. Along the way, the movement has gathered emerging leaders from across the continent who share a hunger to see God move afresh in hearts, campuses, and cities.

Six months ago, Sam Couper was appointed leader of the movement, recognized by the board, partner organizations, and staff as a trusted friend and role model whose wholehearted surrender to God and passion for His Word have inspired thousands of students to give Jesus their full yes.

At the beginning of this year, the Revive Europe team took intentional time to pray, reflect, and discern the next season of the movement. Revival Connect was hosted in partnership in Munich in March, and was a space for the movement to listen to students from across Europe and ask how to best serve them. While the vision remains unchanged, the team sensed God reshaping the way that vision is carried forward.

“We believe God has been inviting us to pursue the same vision through a different vessel,” Couper shared. “Our heart to see Jesus bring revival among the student generation hasn’t changed, but the way we carry and multiply that heart has.”

The movement recently shared three key markers defining this next season:

1. A Shift to Focus on Cultivating Healthy Groundcover

While Revive Europe continues to value catalytic gatherings and moments of unity across the continent, the team increasingly senses the need for smaller, relational spaces where emerging leaders can be connected and prepared to lead for decades to come. 

As part of this strategic repositioning, Revive Europe announced it will not host its biannual New Year gathering in its previous format this year, choosing instead to invest more deeply at a grassroots level.

“I was really impacted by a leadership parable highlighting the example of the aspen tree - seemingly unassuming, yet deeply interconnected and life-giving”, says Couper. “We believe God is calling Revive Europe into a season of providing healthy ground cover that supports what Jesus is doing across the continent.”

Practically, this will include continued investment in Revive Our Hearts retreats, hosted in partnership with student communities pursuing Jesus together on campus.

2. Launching Ascend Cohorts for Revival-Readiness

A second emphasis for this season is intentional investment in leadership formation and revival-readiness.

The movement is convinced that revival is always God’s initiative, yet our role is to posture ourselves for it. Inspired by Psalm 24 and the invitation to ascend the mountain of the Lord with “clean hands and a pure heart,” Revive is investing in emerging leaders across Europe through catalytic spaces for friendship and practical equipping.

As part of this next step, Revive Europe is launching Ascend Cohorts—nine-month journeys for small groups of emerging leaders focused on building healthy roots that can sustain long-term Kingdom leadership. Emerging student leaders can already apply for the first Cohort beginning in September 2026 at reviveeurope.org/cohorts.

3. Gatherings of Friends Across Europe

One conviction that has deepened in this season is that revival moves at the pace of friendship. Rather than building around itself, Revive Europe sees this next chapter as an opportunity to strengthen and serve what God is already doing through local churches, student ministries, and communities across the continent.

Two in-person gatherings will take place over the next year as part of the Ascend Cohorts. A mid-journey retreat will be held in partnership with Maranatha Church München, joining their first city-wide Revival Night of the new year, January 11, 2027.

In Spring 2027, a wider gathering and equipping hub will take place in partnership with Saturday5, a discipleship movement serving local churches. This gathering will create space for emerging leaders to connect from all across Europe around the presence of Jesus, and be equipped as revival-ready vessels in their local context.
